Today was another typical day spent on the bus! We stopped in Genova, Italy - a cute city right on the water. But otherwise, Ernesto (bus driver) was almost killing cars/people left and right, as he usually does because he’s crazy. After the awful hotel in Florence anything in French Riviera could be better!
We finally got to the hotel and realized Cara, Alexis, Nicole, and I had the BIGGEST room! As soon as everyone settled in, our group of 40 put our bathing suits on for the first time all trip and went to the beach down the road. We all sprinted right into the Mediterranean Sea!!
This swimming adventure was definitely a moment I’ll always remember with a smile on my face. Once again, being with every person on my trip is an amazing feeling. To know that people from all over the country can travel together for 25 days is a beautiful experience that I feel so blessed to have had.
After the sun set and we took our group photos, I had a delicious handmade thin crust pizza with Zoe, Meg, Gomes, and Alex. Gomes and I had an especially interesting conversation. He told me about “The Secret” (which I’m now telling you…shush). The Secret is the notion that as long as you tell yourself you want to do “X,” your mind will start believing it and doing it too. So, if I want to be surrounded by positive vibes, my mind will guide me in that direction. All I have to do is go with my gut instincts and I will lead a life of sanity and happiness.
French Riviera is not known for its nightlife, so we were totally down for hanging in the hotel. Kevin taught us all a new drinking game: Reverse Flip Cup! You need a partner so one of you can flip and the other can drink, but you have to stand behind them and put your hands around their body to feed them the drink, and then you flip the clip. Sounds confusing, but it’s a lot of fun!
Definitely was a great first night and successful (Elwood-hosted) gathering in French Riviera.
