This was my goal for 2014: Travel to at least 21 cities in America with an emphasis on exploring new ones. The rule was I had to sleep in the city for it to count.
A lot of things happened throughout this personal journey ranging from incredibly exciting to tragically awful. All in all, this was a year to embrace several gifts:
- the freedom of being a legal adult,
- my last semester at Delaware without having any classes,
- new opportunities,
- and only what served me in the present moment.
This reflection post in my last few hours of being 21 is shared with my deepest gratitude and love:
JANUARY
Atlantic City, New Jersey - Throwing diamonds with my sisters for Kirsten’s 22nd
FEBRUARY
Columbia, South Carolina - 7 day road trip from Newark > Baltimore > Columbia and back with my oldest friends
MARCH
Newark, Delaware (again — sorry it just rules) on St. Patrick’s Day!
APRIL
Newark, Delaware - That time I was Lindsay’s personal nurse during her cripple days scootering to Grottos like a champion. Love you girl!
MAY
Newark, Delaware - Graduation Weekend: The Fretz family takes on Grottos!
JUNE
Frisco, Colorado - My graduation present to myself that was 4 days of pure bliss and exploration.
Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado - John Butler Trio live at Red Rocks was the most beautiful live music experience of my life. Amazing venue, amazing crew, amazing memories.
Natick, Massachusetts - Chelcie’s Graduation Party at her house, AKA Club 11. Incredible spread of food, drinks and my best friends from Delaware all in one place.
JULY
Chicago, Illinois - Road tripped almost 2,000 miles with Platty from New York to Chicago to see my 14th and 15th Dave Matthews Band shows with my BIG and LITTLE!!!
AUGUST
Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC - First night out with my new roommate in DC!! Thank god for Craigslist….
SEPTEMBER
Dewey Beach, Delaware - Labor Day Weekend with the Goon Squad and my 11 Hollywoodz crew (missed you Stay!). Always a memorable time with these ladies.
OCTOBER
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The third annual Halloween show with my Deltronica crew. This time we saw Beats Antique, Shpongle and Emancipator at The Electric Factory — an absolutely breathtaking night!
NOVEMBER
Huntington, New York - My first Thanksgiving Eve with the Elwood 2010 crew. So incredibly unique and rare that we had such a big group of friends growing up. Grateful for our long lasting friendships.
DECEMBER
Capitol Hill, Washington, DC - The end of a very successful event for Millennial Action Project that I spent 6 months working on. Thankful for an inspiring and incredible team to work with and learn from.
CHEERS to another happy, fulfilling and exciting year in 2015. And happy 22nd to me :)
