In a moment of spontaneity, I bought myself a record player.
I’ve never listened to a vinyl before, but I was feeling inspired by my recent fascination of The Grateful Dead and wanted to experience the authentic sounds of vinyls.
This adorable, portable record player was $80 at Urban Outfitters. BE WARNED: It broke within a few weeks of frequent use. The wall plug suddenly stopped working in the middle of me trying to show it off!
So I bought a Jensen record player on Amazon for HALF the price, and it is fabulous. I really enjoy listening to albums in the exact order of songs the artist intended for me to hear. And flipping the vinyl over every 15-20 minutes is a great excuse for not becoming a zombie in front of my computer.
I'll share pictures of my vinyl collection in the coming weeks. It already matches my eclectic taste in music, from Justin Bieber and Jack U to the Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews Band.
Has anyone given Vnyl a try yet? They are a vinyl record subscription service that will mail you 3 hand-picked vinyls every month based on your individual music preferences. Once I land a full-time income again I am definitely signing up!
